Procter biography now in paperback and online

“In Service to American Pharmacy The Professional Life of William Procter Jr,” a book authored by Gregory Higby, Executive Director, American Institute of the History of Pharmacy, was recently re-issued by The University of Alabama press in paperback and online. The book chronicles the life of William Procter, Jr., who is often called the “Father of American Pharmacy” for his role in professionalizing pharmacy in the USA during the 1800s. Higby received the 1995 Edward Kremers Award for the original publication.

The American Institute of the History of Pharmacy is a non-profit national organization devoted to advancing knowledge and understanding of the place of pharmacy in history and is housed in the School of Pharmacy.
