Pharmacy students have been instrumental in immunizing 13,000 undergraduates at UW-Madison. UW-Madison recommends that all undergraduate students be vaccinated against meningococcal disease serogroup B following the identification of three cases on campus. First and second year pharmacy students, along with a few pre-pharmacy students, served as greeters and screeners helping students navigate the record-keeping needed for the clinic. Several third year pharmacy students have administered hundreds of vaccine doses. Two more clinics are planned on October 31, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on November 2, Noon to 8:00 p.m. at the SERF.
A second dose is required to complete the vaccine series and will be scheduled in a month.
