Expand the vision of pharmacy.
Students in the School of Pharmacy have many chances to add a global perspective to their curriculum. Students with global health education are adept at meeting the culturally specific health beliefs and needs of our diverse populations at home and abroad. That experience makes them in demand anywhere from large hospitals that deal with diverse populations to government agencies and non-government organizations (NGOs).
Here, learn about different health beliefs, broaden the vision of pharmacy practice, and make sustainable connections. Practice cultural humility with an appreciation for diversity and cultures, cultural immersion, active listening, and bias self-identification.

International Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE)
Fourth-year (DPH-4) Doctor of Pharmacy students can complete an APPE clerkship in one of seven countries. Each one offers unique benefits and encourages students to broaden their outlook and work with diverse cultures and populations. Explore our many exciting global health opportunities below.
Note: International APPEs are subject to change based on availability.
Belize
Work alongside healthcare students and volunteer healthcare professionals to provide primary care in a rural community clinic.
China
Choose either an exciting opportunity for students interested in Quality Improvement methodology and implementation or work in a rotation split between a large hospital and a private long-term care pharmacy.
Oman
Join a large acute care hospital and be a part of an interdisciplinary team, as well as participate in research projects.
South Africa
Choose either an experience shaping pharmacy curriculum and contributing to pharmacy teaching in an academic setting or get experience educating patients and families on safe and proper medication use.
Thailand
Participate in daily rounds, complete a personal project, or conduct pharmacoeconomic analysis in a large university hospital.
I think studying abroad creates a unique opportunity for pharmacy students to set themselves apart from the rest. Studying abroad requires students to work and perform in new settings on a daily basis, problem solve, and broaden their life vision.
